WILLKOMMEN!

Saengerchor Boston is a mixed-voice German-American chorus whose members come from various communities throughout Massachusetts. We meet to practice German sonchorlogogs once a week, (Tuesdays at 7:30PM til 9:00PM)  for seasonal dinner dance shows we produce at the Boylston Schul-Verein, the German-American Club on 8 County Street, Walpole, MA.

We also sing at the BSV’s Sommerfest and Oktoberfest,  where we sing at the opening ceremonies at 12:45 PM,  and at the “Deutsches Altenheim” (a German nursing home and assisted living centre) in early December.  All proceeds from our concerts are rolled back into the next performances.Weihnachtskonzert 2019.3

Weihnachtskonzert (Christmas Concert) featuring traditional German Christmas songs and carols from different regions and eras.

Our choir director Richard A.A. Larraga has been directing the choir since September 2017. He earned his Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting from the New England Conservatory. He has taught at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA, at the University of the Philippines, Quezon City,  at he Asian Institute for Liturgy and Music, Manila, and at the St. Scholastic’s College, Manila.

There are no auditions and you do not need to be able to read music or speak German. You just need to be able to carry a reasonable tune and the patience to know that one day you will learn enough to contribute to the chorus while learning a great deal about the German culture.
