Willkommen to BSV Sängerchor Boston

BSV Sängerchor Boston is a mixed-voice German-American chorus whose members come from various communities throughout Massachusetts.

We meet to practice German songs once a week (Tuesdays from 7:15 p.m. until 8:45 p.m.
and organize seasonal concert events performed at the Boylston Schul-Verein (BSV),
the German-American Club at 8 County Street, Walpole, MA.

We also perform at the BSV’s Sommerfest and Oktoberfest, where we sing at the opening ceremonies, at the Deutsches Altenheim (German nursing home and assisted living center), and at other nursing homes. Our Christmas concert in December is very popular. Weihnachtskonzert (Christmas Concert) features traditional German Christmas songs and carols from different regions and eras.

We thank our previous choir director Richard A.A. Larraga for his dedicated services to the choir from September 2017 to September 2023.

We welcome our new choir director Christopher Hodges. Christopher is currently a PhD student in the musicology program at Boston University. Trained as an organist, he holds degrees from Boston University and Stetson University. All of his musical work revolves around group singing (the most powerful form of music), whether playing in church, researching American folk music, or leading the BSV Sängerchor Boston.

New singers are always welcome. Everybody who can hold a tune and would like to learn German songs is welcome to join our choir.
