Saengerchor Boston is a mixed-voice German-American chorus whose members come from various communities throughout Massachusetts. We meet to practice German sonchorlogogs once a week, (Tuesdays at 7:30PM til 9:00PM)  for seasonal dinner shows we produce at the Boylston-Schul-Verein (BSV), the German-American Club, on 8 County Street, Walpole, MA.
We also sing at the BSV’s Somerfest , the Octoberfest, (this Saturday, 9/12/15 and Sunday, 9/13/15), where we sing at the opening ceremonies each day at 1:00PM.,  and at the “Altenheim” (a German nursing home) around Christmas time.  All proceeds from our concerts are rolled back into the next performances.

Our most recent  performance on October 25, 2015 featured songs from the Kabarett period in Berlin set in the early 1920’s. At left is a performance of Lillie Marlena presented during the show. We will shortly begin our rehearsals for our Christmas festival on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 event at 7:30, culminating in a performance on December 20, 2015.

We are currently led by Choir Director Mary Louise Schector. There are no auditions and you do not need to be able to read music or read German, and you do not need to be a member of the BSV.  You just need to be able to carry a reasonable tune and the patience to know that one day you will learn enough to contribute to the chorus while learning a great deal about the German culture.
  1. Afterwards we retire to the BSV’s “Ratskeller” for “Gemütlichkeit”, a state of warmth, friendliness, and good cheer,  helped by a fine collection of German wines and beers.
